I am an Internet business geek in Atlanta with a wife and two kids.
My name is Lance Weatherby.
I help launch and build technology companies.
Having been involved with three very successful startup situations, I am in constant concept generation and customer/market validation to find the next startup opportunity for me. I am interested in networking with other entrepreneurs, investors, and Internet-oriented technologists. My goal is to help fashion and ultimately run a technology company.
Currently I am a Venture Catalyst with the ATDC at Georgia Tech. I work primarily with new media and Internet application focused companies. I assist any company regardless of industry with business development and marketing matters.
In addition to my official duties at ATDC, I am currently involved in a number of projects to develop the startup community in Atlanta. I led the effort to bring Startup Weekend to Atlanta and currently serve as a Managing Director of Atlanta Startup Weekend, LLC. Atlanta Startup Weekend created Skribit. I am a co-founder and President of Skribit, Inc.
I founded The Enfuse Group, a strategic consulting firm focused on emerging technology companies. I still do independent consulting.
I spent a period of time with CipherTrust, which was purchased by Secure Computing for $274 million.
Before that I was an EVP at EarthLink. As a general manager I started the mobile wireless business group and grew it to a $45 million business.
I made my way to EarthLink via MindSpring where I ran business development, marketing, product management, and for a period of time engineering/product development. I started at MindSpring pretty early on, when the company was still in the ATDC.
I worked at Mobil for about five years before I entered the world of technology.
I left the Bluegrass state to get my MBA from Indiana University. I currently serve on the board of the Kelley School Alumni Association.
I met Abby, my wife, there. We have two great kids now.
I grew up in Louisville. Three good things came out of that. I can sing the words to "My Old Kentucky Home", can make a mean mint julep without a recipe, and hunt if I get the notion to do so.
